Caution: Follow at your own risk

Here is Prevention Magazine’s April 2009 list of 5 common foods that keep longer than the supermarket sell by date:

  1. Milk – 1 week past sell-by-date
  2. Eggs – 3 to 4 weeks past  sell-by-date
  3. Hard Cheese (once opened) – 2 to 4 months past sell-by-date
  4. Yogurt – 10 to 14 days past sell-by-date
  5. Lunch meat (sealed) – 3 to 5 days past sell-by-date
